Top 5 Museums to Check Out in the Spring!
It’s finally mid-April, and that means it’s (finally) springtime in DC!
This is the time of year when people actually want to be outside, since it’s not too cold and not too humid!
While finals are usually approaching during this time of year, you should definitely take the time and make the most of living in one of the coolest cities in the country. A great way to do that is by going to some of DC’s nationally renowned museums.
1. Dumbarton Oaks
Dumbarton Oaks is conveniently located near Georgetown, and is about a 10-15 minute walk from campus! It’s a great way to (kind of) break the Georgetown bubble and to relax in the midst of finals!
The Newseum has two things every museum-goer wants from a trip: thought-provoking exhibitions and a perfect place to take a picture for Instagram. The museum has parts of the Berlin Wall, and contains a terrace on the top floor overlooking the Capitol!
3. Renwick Gallery
The Renwick Gallery is the one museum in DC everyone (and probably their mother, tbh) has put on their Instagram and/or Snapchat accounts. They’re conveniently located near the White House, too, so you have access to a lot of tourist attractions within minutes.
4. Portrait Gallery
The Portrait Gallery has many awesome exhibitions ranging from the 20th century to Frank Underwood from House of Cards. The atrium is also a plus, since you’re able to sit back, relax, and people watch all day long.
5. Air and Space Museum
The Air and Space Museum is a cool museum where you can see how airplanes have evolved over time, and how aviation was used during World War II. They even have a location near Dulles, too!
