Top 4 Things to do in DC over a Fall Weekend!
By: Victor M. (SFS'17)
Fall has finally come to the Hilltop!
The leaves are starting to change colors, the humidity has died down, which means it’s finally sweater weather.
There are a couple of ways you can make the most out of DC if you’re staying in the area over the weekend.
1. White House Garden Tour
The White House is hosting its Garden Tour this weekend on Saturday and Sunday! It’s a great chance to get off campus and see a different perspective of such a renowned national landmark. You do have to get up a bit early to grab a ticket, but it would absolutely be worth the wait. More info on tickets and logistics here!
2. Eastern Market!
Eastern Market is a bit of a trek for us at Georgetown, but it’s a really awesome marketplace that sells a lot of different foods and handmade products. If you’re ever in the mood to be adventurous with a meal over the long weekend, definitely check out their selection!
3. Taste of DC
GIVEAWAY! We’re giving away 2 pairs of tickets to @tasteofdc, held this weekend (Oct. 8 - 9). Taste of DC is the city’s largest food, beer and wine festival featuring more than 60 restaurants, more than 50 beers and over 50 wines! HOW TO WIN: Like this pic; follow @visitwashingtondc & @tasteofdc and tell us in the comments what part of Taste of DC you are most excited about! Winner will be selected Thursday evening and contacted via direct message. 📷: @tasteofdc #TasteofDC #MyDCcool
Taste of DC is a city-wide food festival on October 8th and 9th that features an eclectic mix of 70 DC food trucks and restaurants. The event also features a Beer Garden, Wine Walk, and live entertainment from local and national acts. Ticket information can be found here!
4. Be adventurous and venture out into a coffee shop in DC!
There have been so many coffee shops opening up in the DC area lately! One of them is Philz, which is a Bay Area-based chain that opened its doors in Adams Morgan and Navy Yard recently! They personalize your coffee (or tea!) exactly to your liking, and it’s a great way to get off campus and do work if you want to get stuff done.
