Things To Do In Your First Week Back

Things To Do In Your First Week Back

By Taylor

The first week back at school is a time to reunite with old friends, meet new ones, and enjoy the last few days of summer before classes finally get going. Here are some ways to make the most of your time during your first week back at Georgetown!

See your friends!

For upperclassmen, this is probably a no-brainer. This is the time to reunite with old friends, catch up on each other’s summers, and make some good memories before the school year even begins. For freshmen, reach out to some friendly faces, and begin making new friends! You might have a lot more in common with some of your dorm neighbors and new classmates than you might think.

UNPACK.

This is a big one. Once classes start and campus activity picks up, you will likely get WAY busier. In your free time, you probably won’t feel like unpacking all the boxes you never got to and organizing all your belongings. Make sure you are comfortable with your living space before things get hectic, so at the end of a long day, you have a comfy spot to come home to!

Head to the bookstore!

Even if you don’t buy every book right away, it’s definitely a good idea to stock up on the first books you’ll need - along with all your school supplies! Head to the bookstore for notebooks, folders, colorful pencils, and agendas galore! There are so many options to choose from, and some fancy “Georgetown” supplies that will show your school spirit even when you’re studying.

Spend some time on campus.

Head to Copley Lawn to soak up some of the hot August sun, grab a bite in Hoya Court, or head to Yates for a solid workout. You’re going to be spending a decent amount of time here throughout the semester, so start getting comfortable!!

Take advantage of the city!

Now is the time to get out and explore, before classes start filling up your schedule! Check out a museum, restaurant, or other spot you’ve been wanting to try. A new neighborhood shuttle will take you all the way to Adams Morgan for a fun night out, or you could head to the National Mall to take advantage of Georgetown's awesome location! I also highly recommend a trip to the Georgetown Waterfront to watch the sun set if you haven't had that magical experience yet.
