Top 4 Things to do on GAAP Weekend!

This is it! You just got the (albeit small) acceptance envelope and letter in the mail!

You’re probably thinking about all the clubs you can join, all the people you’re going to meet, and all the adventures you’ll have in the DC area!

Obviously GAAP Weekend only provides enough time to get a small taste of life at Georgetown, but here are the top 4 things you should do if visiting for the first time!

1. Walk along the Georgetown Waterfront!

The Cherry Blossoms bloom every spring and are an AWESOME sight to see while you’re in the District! They’re a great excuse to get off campus for a bit, and are perfect for taking photos and remembering your time here!

The Cherry Blossoms usually bloom across the city, but are mainly located along the National Mall. You can get there by walking along the Waterfront, using the Metro, or getting an Uber or Lyft.

2. Walk around the neighborhood whenever you have free time with your family!

I was recommend getting into the habit of getting off of campus whenever you get a chance, even if it is just to walk around the neighborhood! There’s so much to do in the neighborhood, like getting your first Baked & Wired cupcake, trying out a milkshake from Good Stuff, or even walking along the canals.

3. Take an iconic picture in front of Healy Hall!

Although half of Hoyas end up meeting their partner while attending school (no pressure!), you don't have to schedule a wedding in order to take a picture in front of Healy Hall!

When you step onto Georgetown's campus you won't be able to miss Healy due to its grandeur and architectural style. What better way of saying you’re at Georgetown (and hopefully attending in the Fall!) than taking a picture in front of this iconic building?

4. Have fun and meet your (potential) fellow classmates!

GAAP Weekend is truly an awesome time to meet other students from all across the country and the world! You’ll get a taste of what it truly means to be a part of the Georgetown community, and you’ll (hopefully) get a first glimpse at your new home away from home!
